IMG_4359My good friend Suzanne L. introduced me to these little wonders years ago in one of
her summer , super succesful parties. When preparing these homemade pitta sticks with sea salt, olive oil and rosemary, try to choose the best possible quality of the classic Greek round pita bread for a crunchier but also fluffy in the center result.

Ingredients:

  • Souvlaki pita bread (choose round ones)
  • Olive oil to brush pittas and the baking sheet
  • Sweet , smoked or hot paprika (depends on your taste)
  • Fresh or dried rosemary
  • Sea salt flakes

Preparation:

Cut the round pitas in long strips.

Place the pita strips on a well-oiled baking tray, leaving some space between them so the sides bake well too.

Spray lightly the pita strips with water (just wet your hands and shake them over the baking tray), brush them with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt flakes and some paprika (if you like spicy go for the hot one).

Sprinkle some rosemary.

Bake for 10 minutes at 180 – 200C/ 360-400F.

Serve them hot with tzatziki, carrot tzatziki, a bit of aromatic olive oil, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers, hummus and fava, taramosalata or any other dip you like.

Why don’t you check here the carrot tzatziki recipe?
